iowa lemon law on a vehicle bought as is?

my brother purchased a 2001 chevy silverado 4×4 about 20 days ago. the only day it ran right was the day he test drove it. He bought it as is, but when he took it back the next day, they did agree to fix a couple bad parts. they also found a rats nest in the wiring, and fixed that. Since then, it still does the same thing, it doesnt go when you push on the gas, above 2,000 rpms, and the headlights turn on and off when they feel like it. the company is going to fix one more part, but are basically guessing on if that will fix the problem. Is there anything he can do, like the lemon law, or what? he has no warranty?

Lemon Laws do not apply to used cars. As Is means you agreed to purchase the car in the condition it was in. The seller has no liability since you agreed to the purchase.

Let the dealer do his thing if they have agreed fix the truck. But hold them firm to their promise to FIX the truck not just throw new parts at it hoping to solve the problem.

I would suggest he take it in to them for the repair and insist that if this new repair does not fix the problems that they agree to a full refund. Make sure this agreement is in writing and signed before any work begins.

It sounds like the dealer is trying to do the right thing but are either unqualified or unable to get it done correctly.

The rats have obviously eaten their way through the wiring harness. Probably going to need to be replaced. Fixing a short is very difficult to trace. As far as the truck’s sluggish acceleration is concerned any competent mechanic should be able to tune up the engine and get it running properly.
